Good Design
by the artist Delima, is a collection based on Dieter Rams' ten commandments on what constitutes "good design".
Almost 50 years later, the 10 principles are as valid today as they were on its inception. This is a celebration of a design philosophy.
#1 - TP1

Good design is innovative.
The Braun TP1 is considered to be the highest contribution of Dieter Rams to the Neo-Functionalism style. Lack of clutter and simple geometries were the focus of the movement, probably to contrast the emerging US highly decorate and chromed post-war designs.
#2 - 740
Good design makes a product useful.
The 740 furniture system - one of the lesser known designs by Rams - was based on stacking pieces inspired by Japanese sitting mats and is still today a simply captivating product.
#3 - HLD4

Good design is aethestic.
The HLD4 was a re-design of Reinhold Weiss HLD 231 of 1964, which featured a friendlier shape and a grill area nearly as tall as it was wide. Aesthetically, the split, horizontal lines of the grill
resemble earlier versions of Braun stereos, attempting to convey a brand identity across product categories. This a perfect example of Rams' severe-pop style.

Good design makes a product understandable
The design on the AB21 clock and ABR21 clock/radio is one of the finest examples of understandable and iconic designs. Simple yet effective to convey its purpose.
#5 - EA1

Good design is unobtrusive.
From the early 1960s, the EA1 was he start of the renowned Nizo series and trendsetting for the modern appearance of cameras.
Designed by world famous designer Dieter Rams and his pupil Richard Fischer.

A landmark Braun Design, the SK 4 was one of the most significant early products of the Braun Company's encounter with the HfG Ulm.
#7 - ET66

Good Design is long-lasting.
The Braun ET66 calculator was manufactured by Braun in 1987 and is a perfect example of Dieter Rams' and Dietrich Lubs' design and its long-lasting influence. The most famous contemporary homages to Rams' designs from the 1950s through to the 1990s is Jonathan Ive's recent work for Apple products, especially in the numeric and function keypad in the Apple iPhone calculator application.
